Mountain Waterfall

I went hiking this past Sunday morning at Table Rock Park. It is a beautiful trail! This is the best of the pictures on the hike.

Greenville, South Carolina

I'm a Hoosier originally. I wasn't born in Indiana, but I've spent the majority of my life there. Indiana is great, but I have always been in love with the South. A little over a year ago my wife, Heather and I were at the beach at Isle of Palms near South Carolina. We were on vacation and having the time of our lives. She looked at me said, "we just should move here, really." I agreed and it was decided, right then and there at the beach. We were going to just do it.

We had a 12 hour drive back to Indianapolis a few days later, and on the way we talked and planned. As soon as we got back we had a plan and we were going to stick to it. We would save money for the next year to be ready to move to South Carolina when our lease was up the following summer. After much research (Heather LOVES research), we decided that the Charleston area was simply not practical. On a visit that fall to Greenville, South Carolina, we absolutely fell in love with this area. A year later, we had achieved our financial goals and were ready to move. We gave our jobs notice that we would be leaving and then we packed our things up and moved down south.

It's a very unconventional move, but I couldn't be happier with it. I am loving life down here. This town is definitely my style. There is a beautiful downtown that isn't too crowded to enjoy. I think of it as a big city downtown with a small town feel. The mountains are close by, as are rivers and lakes, and the beach is within a relatively short drive. Atlanta and Charlotte are also not too far away if you want to see some bigger city stuff. The thing I noticed the most though was the attitude of the people here. People seem very happy and friendly and the culture is very outdoor oriented. Makes sense since there is so much to do outdoors here and the weather is so nice.

I've only lived here for about 4 months, but I already feel at home. I am having the time of my life in Greenville (despite a nasty divorce thrown in there since my move...but I won't go into that here). I went hiking at Table Rock Park this past weekend and am looking forward to going back soon to hike all the way to the top. My family and I are planning to spend Christmas in Myrtle Beach and I couldn't be more enthused about this!

This picture was taken at Falls Park in downtown Greenville last November.
The Reedy River runs through downtown and there is a suspended walking bridge that allows this awesome view of the falls.

Welcome to the Dashboard Drummer!

You know you've done it! You're having an awesome day. You can't help but smile. You're in a stellar mood and feeling on top of the world, and your favorite song is on, and oh no! Here comes that drum solo! You just have to jam out! You have no shame. People may pass by and look at you like you've lost it, but so what? You're having fun. That's what this blog is all about. That feeling.

I have two other blogs, where I love to write about much more serious topics, but sometimes it's fun to just express the lighter side of life. I am a very "glass half full" type of person and I don't apologize for that. I have a very eclectic and random personality so this blog will reflect that. I intend to express creativity and inspire my readers to be positive and love their lives! Enjoy!
